Well, here goes – our first attempt at ‘blogging’. We’re now three months into Alison and Martin’s Big Adventure. Still alive, and still upright – unlike the locals, some of whom are so laid back they’re horizontal. We’re going to try using this space to keep our UK friends and family more up-to-date with our news and the latest ‘funnies’ (it’s a house rule that something makes us laugh every day).
Today’s funny is that the water’s off – not sure when it went off (properties in Goa have large water tanks on the roofs so the taps don’t run dry immediately). We have been told that it won’t be back on until Friday – maybe, or ‘magir’ (later) as they often say in Konkani, the local language. We’ve been told that when supplies dry up, we will have to buy water from a passing water tanker. To keep us going we have filled a five gallon bucket.
There’s always something. If it’s not the water, it’s the electricity. Or the gas bottle’s run out. Or the server’s down (Sunday afternoon, around 4.30pm local time, when Alison wants to listen to Desert Island Discs).
More magir. Adeus.

I’m so glad you’re doing this so I can keep up with your mad adventure.
I’ve discovered the trick with blogging is still having something interesting to say after the first week. With the ammunition you have, I doubt that will be a problem.

Thanks for the encouragement Allen. We are quite enjoying the experience. Basically this blog is a trial to see if we can get a blog on Chiropractic and Bowen (known as allied therapies here) in India. However we are convinced there’s enough ammunition as you say to keep Goan Crazy goan for a good time. thanks again. Martin

Welcome to the world of Skype.
Having spoken to the East coast of USA and West coast of India it is clear that the world is getting smaller. So small in fact that everyone can keep in touch! Im realy glad.
There must be some sort of import export business we can run!!! Failing that I’ll settle for secret recipies for tea massala! How much is an enfield (oops!)?
I shall keep an eye out for Skype phones that look like conventional phones and will send you details so that you can speak to your families.
Dennis can use the bush telegraph.!
I shall also see who else I can find on skype for you.
